Unforgiveness Makes You a Prisoner Without Bars

The late great Myles Munroe famously said that the wealthiest place in the world is not the gold mines of South America or the oil field of Iraq or Iran. They are not the diamond mines in South Africa or the banks of the world. The wealthiest place on the planet is the cemetery. There lie buried companies that were never started, inventions that were never made, bestselling books that were never written, and masterpieces that were never painted. In the cemetery is buried the greatest treasure of untapped potential.

I got to think about this and although I can’t help but agree with Dr. Munroe, a close second to this, close on its heels will be unforgiveness.

Unforgiveness is a deadly disease that claws at the heart and destroys everything in its path. When you take a closer look at our. society, its chaos, and. dysfunction, tracing a line to its beginning you will find the root cause being unforgiveness and bitterness

Unforgiveness of ourselves, Unforgiveness of others and Unforgiveness of situations. This in turn as a domino effect, with deadly consequences. The emotion you feed will dominate your life. Your freedom is stripped away because unforgiveness has made you prisoner, this deadly emotion is running and dictating your life, your thoughts are consumed by malice, vengeance, getting even and never forgetting the offense. This kind of thinking hinders and hampers you from thinking, happy, pleasant, invigorating wholesome thoughts. It has been proven by medicine that majority of the diseases that exist today are caused through unforgiveness. I am sure you have heard the phrase unforgiveness is like drinking poison and waiting for the offender to die. The bible clearly states ……Above else guard your heart for everything you do flows from it (Proverbs 4.23) Unforgiveness, bitterness, and resentment this blocks the flow of God’s blessing in your life.

There is no greater freedom than the freedom you experience when you make a conscious decision to not live out your days in unforgiveness, and purposely choose to forgive. Today you can break free from the bondage of unforgiveness that has held you prisoner for so long and robbed you of the life you were truly meant to have. Forgiveness does not mean that you have to reconcile the relationship, it just means that you choose an alternate route, a route to embracing the healing power that forgiveness brings. A future of fresh beginnings, new chances, and opportunities, good health, love and lasting happiness. Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does change the future. Remember …..A life without cause is a life without effect- Barbarella . Live your best life now.
